Kids and Teens orthodontic treatment.

Between the ages of 11 and 13 is the most common time for starting orthodontic treatment. By 12, most if not all of the permanent teeth have erupted and orthodontic problems are quite apparent.

Children are entering their pubertal growth period with an increase rate of facial skeletal growth. During this period tooth movement is easier and more rapid and orthopedic influence on the upper and lower jaws is more predictable. It is also a time when many of their friends are undergoing orthodontic treatment making braces not only more acceptabe, but "cool". Children with positive attitudes toward treatment are more likely to follow instructions which in turn speeds treatment along and enhances the end result. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing you and your child.
