Many may know our practice as Dr. John J. Flowers, DMD. Dr. Flowers established this practice in 1979 with his daughter, Dr. Crowder, joining in 2007. Dr. Flowers being double board certified in Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics retired in 2020.

She then practiced pediatric dentistry in Philadelphia, PA from 2004-2007 while her husband, Charles, completed a residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at the University of Pennsylvania. They moved to Dothan in the summer of 2007 at which time Dr. Crowder joined her father, Dr. John Flowers, in practice. Dr. Crowder is board certified in pediatric dentistry and is on the surgery staff at Southeast Health. Kristen and Charles have been married since 2001 and have 3 children.
Dr. John Flowers graduated from Birmingham-Southern College in 1968 and graduated from UAB’s School of Dentistry with honors in 1972. He then served 3 years in the US Navy Dental Corp, 1 year at Bethesda Naval Hospital and 2 years aboard an aircraft carrier. Dr. Flowers then returned to Birmingham where he completed a residency in pediatric dentistry at UAB’s Children’s Hospital in ’77 and a residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at UAB’s School of Dentistry in ’79. Dr. Flowers is board certified in both specialties. Dr. Flowers and his wife, Pat, moved to Dothan in 1979 where he practiced pediatric dentistry and orthodontics until his retirement in 2020.
Shari graduated from Seminole County High School, Donalsonville, GA. She took courses at Wallace College and graduated from Darton College’s School of Dental Hygiene, Albany, GA in 1982. Shari joined Dr. Flowers as a hygienist in 1982 and is an irreplaceable entity of Dothan Pediatric Dentistry. Incidentally, Shari has known Dr. Crowder since she was 7 years old. Shari’s level of knowledge and skill with behavior management is unsurpassed. She is one of Dothan Pediatric Dentistry’s most treasured assets. Her soft, gentle voice and manner has calmed many anxious children. Shari is married to Harvey and has one daughter.
Tammy is a graduate of Ashford High School. She graduated from UAB’s School of Dental Hygiene in 1987. Tammy has been working in clinical dentistry since 1985. She spent the early years of her career working with orthodontist Dr. Dan Helms before joining our team in 1996. Tammy brings so much “all around” talent and experience to Dothan Pediatric Dentistry. Tammy is another perfect fit for Dothan Pediatric Dentistry and we are fortunate to have her on our team. Tammy is married to Jeff and has 2 children.
Libby graduated from Ashford High School in 1992 and UAB’s School of Dental Hygiene in 2010. Libby was Dr. Flowers primary assistant when joining Dothan Pediatric Dentistry in 1997. Libby is now Dr. Crowder’s right-hand woman (literally, since Dr. Crowder is left-handed … HAHAHA!). She has been in clinical dentistry since 1992 and is extremely talented in all aspects of clinical dentistry and orthodontics. We are lucky to have Libby on board here at Dothan Pediatric Dentistry. She is married to Jeff and has 2 children and 2 wonderful grandchildren.
Pamela graduated high school from Dixie Academy, Louisville, AL in 1998 and UAB’s School of Dental Hygiene in 2000. Before joining Dothan Pediatric Dentistry in 2008, Pamela worked for pediatric dentist Dr. Bernard Johnston until his retirement. Pamela has been involved in clinical dentistry since 1997 and brings a lot of experience and talent to Dothan Pediatric Dentistry. Her gentle, quiet manner is truly an asset, especially with young children. Pamela is married to William and has 2 children.
Angela is a graduate of Graceville High School, Graceville, FL. She tried her hand in the banking industry for several years before beginning her dental career in general dentistry in 1993. She worked for a local dental practice for nearly 20 years before joining Dothan Pediatric Dentistry as office manager in 2013. Angela brings may years of practice management experience including her knowledge of dental insurance to Dothan Pediatric Dentistry. She truly loves what she does and is such an asset to our practice. Angela is married to Rodney and has one daughter and one grandson.
Amber is a graduate of Carroll High, Ozark, AL. She began her clinical dentistry career as a dental assistant in 2001 and obtained her RDH from UAB’s School of Dental Hygiene in 2014 while working for pediatric dentist Dr. William Hand. Amber joined the Dothan Pediatric Dentistry team in 2018. Although her responsibilities were relocated to the front desk as receptionist in 2021 and is probably one of the first you’ll meet upon entering, she does continue practicing clinical dentistry as needed. Amber brings a lot of “energy” and loves pranking her co-workers. Dothan Pediatric Dentistry is very fortunate to have her and her years of experience. She is married to Brent, has one son and a pig named Penelope.
